Day 4 West Angle to Pembroke

Another beautiful, sunny morning.  We had a great,  Welsh breakfast at our B&B this morning and were on the trail by 9:15.  Pete ordered a local specialty called "lava bread," which as far as the rest of us could tell was a gooey, fried seaweed pile that looked as disgusting as I've described it. Needless to say, we didn't partake and even Pete left half of his for the cat...Pickles!

The trail took us around Angle Bay and along the Milford Haven Estuary all the way to Pembroke.  The first hour of walking was through fields and hedgerows where there was very little breeze, which meant we were essentially breakfast for the horse flies.  We hiked at warp speed to stay ahead of the flies and after the first couple of hours we were well on our way to Pembroke.

The Estuary looked like it could be a bustling port; with its NGL Jetties and a large Valero Refinery with dock and a Generating Station.  A rather industrial landscape for our walk today.   Much of the hike around the Refinery was in covered woodlands with the Refinery behind us and out of site.  Nevertheless, Don and Cathy felt right at home having grown up in the Chemical Valley in Sarnia.

Angle Bay, our starting point.

The Castle in Pembroke

We reached Pembroke, our destination for the day, early, by 2:30 and were able to search out the nicest pub, make reservations for dinner and quaff a pint to celebrate the end of today's walk.  More tomorrow.
