Day 3 Bosherton to Anglebay
Stats for the day:
16 miles
39,000 steps
cider...nothing yet...
As we left our charming pub/hotel in Bosherston for our 3rd day of walking the weather was shaping up to be another spectacular day. We started off inland today as we had to take the alternate route due to active firing in the adjacent artillery range. In fact, we could here the firefights late at night last night as they were also doing night maneuvers. We followed some country roads and tank tracks around the perimeter of the artillery range, making our way towards the coast again. We were dive bombed by horse flies in the morning and periodically throughout the day as the pesky little devils bit at our flesh.
There were a few spots around the range where we could actually watch armored vehicles running their maneuvers and shooting at targets in the distance. We also saw soldiers running through the fields and firing at targets in the woods . . . that seemed to be also shooting at them. Very interesting. Finally, when we reached the coast again we saw fast moving landing boats doing mock attacks of the rugged coast line and receiving a barrage of heavy artillery fire from the hills . . . also very cool!
OK, enough about the fireworks. We continued along back on the coast heading towards the town and headland called Angle. We passed through Freshwater West, a popular surfing beach, indulged in some ice cream cones and headed up into the hills and cliffs toward Angle. The terrain was quite hilly as we had to ascend and descend up and down through the crevices of the rugged coastline. We stopped for lunch at the top of a ridge with a beautiful view out to the sea and then headed out again just as a wall of sea fog was approaching.
We finally made our way around the entire headland/peninsula of Angle and found our B&B, Angle Bay B&B, situated right on the bay with a view of our pub/dinner venue for the night. After a hearty seafood meal at the pub, we headed back to our B&B to crash for the night and rest our muscles for another great day of walking tomorrow to Pembroke.

A couple of the tanks on display outside Merrion Camp, this one a Leopard MK. You don't want one of these chasing you across a field.
Thanks for the tips!

Don, at his fine dining location with a sea view.
Shelagh and Cathy at the next table.
Pete, tucking into a gourmet sausage sandwich.
My view at lunch!

Enjoy some of the great sights from today's walk!
Freshwater West Beach.
Sheep Island, almost there!
Wild horses roaming free along the cliffs
Beautiful church door along the route
Handmade kneeling pillow in the church
Me thinks a tad more beautiful than today's refineries and oil 😳
